The Muslims, adherents of second largest religion in the world- Islam- that make up about 24% of the world population, have been subjected to genocide, ethnic cleansing, or proxy war in Muslim majority or Muslim minority states by non-Muslims or Muslims across the globe. Be it Kashmir, India, Palestine, Myanmar, Yemen, Syria or other countries. Till today, millions of Muslims have been bumped off violating the international law. Here question arises: Do Muslim lives matter?
Commencing with Kashmir, that has been epicentre of carnage for the decades. Human Rights Watch reported that 50,000 people were killed in Kashmir from 1989 to 2006. Dolefully, a recent report has depicted tally of demises more than one lac. Additionally, brutal Indians have left no stone unturned to tyrannize beleaguered Kashmiris by extrajudicial killings, forced disappearance, rape, excruciation, firing on unarmed demonstrators, burning of homes, crops and standing harvests, and an all-out clamp down on all political activities.
In addition to this, Kashmir state Human Rights Commission has reported 8,000 disappearances.
Furthermore, Kashmiris have been in strict curfew for months. Despite raising voice for them time and again, it does not bear any fruit. They all are still in persecution.
It is not only Kashmir, in which Muslims have been sent to cemetery or tortured by tyrant Indians, but various other states of India had been under barbarism; In 1964 in Kolkata, in 1983 in Nellie, in 1987 in Hashimpura, and 2002 in Gujrat, all these portray picture of barbarism against Muslims in which thousands of Muslims were killed and many were tortured.
Regretfully, these bloodbaths could not quenched thirst of tyrant Indians. Under surveillance of Prime Minister Modi, they passed a new bill namely Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in order to carry out its hindutva ideology of just one religion and considering rest, especially Muslims, enemy of the state, and toiled to relegate them because the bill says, “if any anyone cannot prove its birth in India, it will be banished or held in camps such as torture cells or even worst.” And many of the Muslims have lost their documents in flood or any other catastrophe.
Further, cow slaughtering is another alibi of tyrannizing and massacring Muslims in India. When a group of people kill any Muslim under this pretext, group is acclaimed by their people.
In Palestine, Israel has also killed thousands of Muslims and detained more than ten thousand Muslims in various false security offences and occupied land of Palestine. She has restricted movements of people and goods into and outside of the Gaza stripe, and facilitated the transfer of Israel citizens to the west bank, an illegal practice under international humanitarian law. Additionally, during first nine months of 2019, Israel authority approved plans for 5,995 housing units in west bank settlement, excluding east Jerusalem.
Moreover, a report says, 504 Palestinians houses were destroyed. United Nations office of the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs told about displacements of 642 people as of September 16, 2019- it was 472 in 2018. Further, Palestinians rights group, Al Mezan said, Israeli forces killed 34 Palestinians. Adding to this, Gaza’s health ministry depicted 1,883 Palestinians were injured with live ammunition during protests in 2019 of October 31.
Sorrowfully, eighty per cent of Gaza’s population depend on humanitarian aid. Brutal Israel has limited access to educational, economic and other opportunities; medical care, clean water and electricity for the nearly 2 million Palestinians, according to Human Rights Watch. More, Israel incarcerates many west bank and Gaza Palestinians inside Israel; convoluting family visits and violating the provisions of international humanitarian law that prohibits their transfer outside the occupied territory.
Shamefully, in July 2019, UN secretary-general reported that Israeli forces had killed 56 Palestinian children and injured 2,733 in 2018, but did not include her in his annual “List for Shame” for grave violence against children in armed conflict that violates the provisions of International Law.
Tyranny on Muslims does not end here. Myanmar also contributes to it. Since 2016, Rohingya in Rakhine state, under watchful eye of Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, have been the targets of Myanmar armed forces and police, which has been termed ethnic cleansing and genocide by the United Nations, International Criminal Court officials, Human Rights Groups, journalists, and governments including United States.
According to Ontario Development Agency, involved researchers from various countries, more than 24,000 Rohinya had been carried off by Myanmar state forces since August 2017. It adds that more than 34,000 people were thrown into fire; more than 114,000 were beaten and 17,718 Rohingya women and girls were raped since systematically targeted.
In addition to this, 115,000 houses were burnt down; 113,000 were vandalized, and 720,000 Rohingya were forced to flee to Bangladesh.
Under the alibi of re-education camps, China has detained more than one million Uighar Muslims; it is also deemed as the largest mass incarceration of a minority population. In camps, they have been subjected to harassment, suppression of free speech, political indoctrination and also other human rights abuses. Woefully, Muslims have been forbidden for giving their children Islamic names, keeping fasts, offering prayers, keeping Holy Quran at their homes and much more. Some reports enunciated the homicide of detainees and Muslims are coerced to drink alcohol and eat pork in China’s re-education camps that are unlawful in Islam.
The brutality on Muslims by the Muslims. In Yemen, Houthis, formally known as Ansar Allah, and other Muslim countries are engaged in Civil War that was triggered in 2015. Consequently, death score has crossed 100,000. Recently, UN told tally of 7,700 civilians just by March 2020. The war has damaged a lot to Muslims- economically, socially, or politically. UN called it world’s largest and worst humanitarian catastrophe, including unlawfully impeding delivery of desperately needed humanitarian aid.
According to Human Rights Watch, since 2015, 90 apparently unlawful coalition airstrikes have been documented, which have hit homes, markets, hospitals, schools, and mosques.
Furthermore, Yemen data project confirms the deaths and injuries of civilians, and said that a quarter of all civilians killed in air raids. More than 20 million people are suffering food insecurity; 10 million of them are at risk of famine.
In Syria since the war began in 2011, more than 400,000 people have been killed. Different groups carried out arbitrary detentions, kidnappings and torture.
Despite the UN, International Criminal Court, OIC and many other human rights organizations, still Muslims are being persecuted.
We, the Muslim Ummah, should be united to defend and save our brothers’ precious blood.
