Due to arising crisis of coronavirus, whole world is and will be affected by it. We are not a developed nation; we will be facing it for a long time period in future due to inevitable impacts of both domestic and global developments which will arise due to this virus. It is our responsibility to play our role in this crucial time and help others.
Unemployment: According to the estimates of Pakistan’s worker federation, almost half million population just lost their job at the end of march when the lock-down was being imposed, and from 12.5 to 18.5 million population will lose their job in this crisis. Workers working in Industries are unsure about their jobs and the time when corona crisis will stabilize and everything will resume again, industries will not be resumed they will instead take a new start from that point.
Economic situation: Pakistan is experiencing the slowdown in GDP due to COVID-19 pandemic because its effects are wide ranging; effecting international trade, lowering of foreign remittance, reduction in revenues. Federal government estimated that almost 2.5 trillion loss we will be facing because globally supply chains are being stopped which has disrupted the whole system. Last year Gross domestic production was 3.3 which is estimated to shrink to 2.6 percent according to Asian bank development which is a drop to huge points.
Poverty: The national poverty ratio was 31.3% in 2018, which is increased from 40% in 2020 as almost 50-60 million population was lying in a poverty line and this would double to more than almost 120 million due to arising corona crisis.
Pakistan is the 6th most populated country in the world with almost 220 million population in 2020, 2.83% of world’s population. It has been observed that there is a huge population facing food insecurity in our country, If all of us stand as a nation with a “united we stand and divided we fall”, playing our role living in our places(due to lock-down) and help the poor, it will not only help us in just playing our part as a responsible citizen but will also help in achieving Sustainable development goals SDGs 1 and 2, no poverty and zero hunger.
“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.” Mother Teresa
We should be thankful of all the blessings and step forward to help the ones who are deprived of the basic needs, because a large number of population of Pakistan consists of those who’re daily labors and feed from their earning on daily basis, and street wagers who buy their food from the amount of pocket money we’re willing to spend on them. We should feel their pain when they are facing these crises in a worse way than us and help the poor, it will be good for both of our World’s.
