NRO or no NRO: Unconditional removal is still conditional

Most of people especially supporters of PML-N are considering the verdict of Lahore High Court a move waited for a long period of time. Indeed PML-N fought the case not only in courts but also on media giving logical and illogical views. The party waited for this day and finally it has reached.

Now that Nawaz is free to not abide by condition put forward by federal government, it should be remembered that PML-N’s supreme leader is free for four weeks and not for life. He is still convicted and would have to bear contempt of court in case he does not get back upon the completion of his treatment. Though important, but this is ultimately a different issue; the main thing is to know if Nawaz’s unconditional removal from ECL is yet another act of NRO or not.

Whether it is an NRO or not, it is highly likely that Nawaz Sharif would think thousands times to get back to Pakistan and face such intricate web of legal complexities which he even himself has been part of. He already lost her better half and came Pakistan dauntlessly but now won’t like to lose anything, not even himself nor any of his penny.

A stark difference can be found between supporters of political parties. Some are saying that NRO has already been given to opposition party PML-N by the ruling elite including big brother. While others,  especially PTI’s supporters, are of view that it was a judicial move that helped Nawaz Sharif fly abroad without acting upon any condition.

PML-N’s jubilation and PTI’s disappointment on Lahore High Court’s verdict are evident of the fact that both of them are turning an humanitarian issue into political one. Whether it is an NRO or not, it is highly likely that Nawaz Sharif would think thousands times to get back to Pakistan and face such intricate web of legal complexities.

Keeping the hue and cry into consideration, the reality is no one knows because not only PTI but also PML-N covered the issue so covertly that no one, not even any political expert, can say with guarantee that if it was an act of NRO or not.

PTI fought legal battle, same goes for PML-N. The matter went to Lahore High Court which ultimately freed thrice PM of Pakistan setting aside any condition put forward by federal government. Now the ball is in Nawaz’s court if he abides by terms of the agreement and gets back to Pakistan, his stature would be elevated among masses who have long be betrayed by unfaithful rulers. It is over Sharif family and even on PTI government to prove if it was an act of NRO or a genuine issue for which Imran Khan fought.

Only time will further reveal if this was another NRO or not. Furthermore, what was the role of other stakeholders including establishment was. At the moment, let us take the entire case an issued based on humanitarian one and let us pray for Nawaz Sharif’s quick recovery.
