A New Wave of Terrorism in Pakistan

At the time when everyone in Pakistan thought that the terrorism has been eliminated from the country, the enemies of the nation have once again proved that they still exist in Pakistan and are currently active. The recent bomb blasts in Peshawar, Bannu, and Mastung have killed hundreds of innocent people and left many of them injured.

In Peshawar, 22 people were killed including Barrister Haroon Bilour when a suicide bomber exploded himself at the election meeting of Awami National Party (ANP).

In Bannu, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Akram Khan Durrani survived an attack when a blast hit his convoy and killed four people.

Similarly, in Mastung, more than 130 people were killed when a suicide bomber targeted an election event of Baluchistan Awami Party (BAP). The provincial assembly candidate Nawab Siraj Raisani was among the dead.

Meanwhile, the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the responsibility of Peshawar blast, according to the media reports.

In the wake of these disasters, the Prime Minister Justice (R) Nasir-ul-Mulk announced a national mourning day on Sunday and two-day mourning was declared in Baluchistan. Some political parties including the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) temporarily suspended their election campaigns.

It seems like the political parties which were targeted by the terrorists during the 2013 elections are being targeted once again. The motive is to spread fear among the politicians and the public. The gatherings of people in the political rallies are often the easy targets for the terrorists.

As everyone knows, the elections are just a week ahead and the terrorists become more active during such times. On the 25th of July, Pakistan will undergo a democratic process and the enemies of the nation just cannot accept it. They don’t want Pakistan to go towards the general elections smoothly and are trying their best to ruin the peace of the country.

Pakistan is going through a difficult period of time and is already facing a number of crises including an unstable economy, water shortage, and rising unemployment. The country’s name has already been added to the grey list of Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Amid all these troubles, we are centering on the political conflicts. The need of the hour is to focus towards the crisis facing Pakistan.

Although in the last few years, the number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan has been decreased significantly, there is a need to get rid of these attacks completely. The people of Pakistan and the administration need to work together to fight the evil forces. The individuals need to keep an eye on the activities taking place in their surroundings, and they need to report immediately if they observe any strange behavior around them. If a new person is shifted to a house near your area, it is good to get to know that person. The authorities need to restart the campaigns or do whatever is mandatory to wipe out the terrorists from the land. Moreover, the National Action Plan introduced in 2014 also needs to be revisited. Otherwise, there is a chance that the enemies of the nation will once again start strengthening their roots inside the country.

We need to act quickly to repair the damaged image of Pakistan in front of the world. This is the time to show to the terrorists that we are not afraid of such criminal acts. Despite all these attacks, the people need to get out of their homes on 25th July to cast their votes for their favorite parties.
