Corporations and brands only think about making profits these days. Giving back to the people is never on their agenda. However, there are a few brands who believe in serving the people, not just through their products, but also by ensuring the provision of basic facilities to the local public. Xiaomi is one such brand. This Ramazan, Xiaomi announced their collaboration with Shaukhat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH). The Chinese mobile company vowed to donate a portion of its sales to the hospital. The step is being taken to help raise awareness and attract donations to the hospital’s new project.
Xiaomi, a Chinese electronics company, is currently the world’s fourth biggest smartphone manufacturer. Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder, and CEO believes that premium quality products should be within everyone’s reach. Following the beliefs of its founder, Xiaomi creates smart products that are relatively cheaper as compared to the products produced by its competitors.
Xiaomi has reached its current status of a trusted smartphone brand in the mobile market thanks to the brand’s efforts in developing a connection with the millennials. In 2014, Xiaomi sold more than 61 million handsets. Currently, Xiaomi’s products are being sold in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, and Brazil. This year they have launched their products in Pakistan in collaboration with Smart Link Technologies.
Introducing their affordable smartphones to the Pakistani market has been a smart move from Xiaomi. Pakistan is world’s 6th largest smartphone market. By 2015, the number of mobile subscribers in the country has gone up to 125 million, and the figure is expected to double by the end of 2019. Pakistan is a country where affordable and high-quality smartphones are in demand, a perfect setting for Xiaomi to market its products. Another advantage that Xiaomi has in Pakistan is that 77% of the mobile users in Pakistan are below the age of 30, which is the target market of the brand.
Smart Link Technologies, established in 2016, is the project of a group of professionals. It was their efforts that lead to their exclusive partnership with Xiaomi. Smart Link Technologies believe in making technology available to everyone without compromising on the quality of the products being sold. It is the aim of Smart Link Technologies to revolutionise the way brands are marketed in different societies.
Xiaomi believes in helping a society grow. This is why they have decided to donate for the upcoming project of SKMCH. SKMCH is the biggest cancer hospital in Pakistan and is effectively treating cancer patients from all over the country regardless of their economic background. In 2016 alone, 10,203 new patients registered at the SKMCH, while the number of outpatient visits was three times that of the registrations. The people of Pakistan donate to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust generously every year. In 2016, the Zakat made it possible for the hospital to treat 75% of its cancer patients for free. SKMCH is not only saving children by treating them but is also securing the future of Pakistan. The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust plans to open a research facility in Karachi. The funds being raised by Xiaomi will help in establishing the research facility with modern equipment.
For every smartphone purchased from http://mistore.pk/, Xiaomi will donate 1000 rupees to SKMCH. On the other hand, for each sold eco product such as power bank, Mi band, handsfree etc., Xiaomi will donate 100 rupees to SKMCH. The campaign which was announced in Ramazan will continue for 15 days after Eid. Thanks to this campaign, now is the perfect time to get a new phone from your Eidi and help SKMCH in treating poor cancer patients at the same time.
