Moreover, a security analyst, named Mark Burnett, released a list of ten million passwords in February last year, in order to educate individuals about authentication access and encryption. He vows to protect people from fraud on the internet so as to aid any harm or crime, especially people logging into others’ profiles illegally on social networking sites and e-commerce shopping. Earlier, he was approached by a number of researchers and students for a copy of his research data on passwords and usernames but he declined only before finalising a table himself to share with the world.

You should never have these passwords because they are are not only an easy way in for hackers but can also put one’s personal data at risk which includes media files, transaction information and interpersonal messages with friends and family members. A simple recipe for any good password is not more than an eight-digit word, use of symbols, numbers and special characters. A person should change his/her password after regular intervals of time and mix up the upper case and lower case alphabets.

People should avoid obvious passwords like one’s own username, name of someone close and repetitive words like ‘appleapple’, otherwise, the consequences can be disastrous.
