1) Welcome and reception by the Prime Minister
Everyone’s favourite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was present at the airport to welcome 163 refugees flying in from Lebanon.
“This is a wonderful night where we get to show not just a planeload of new Canadians what Canada’s all about, but we get to show the world how to open our hearts and welcome in people who are fleeing extraordinarily difficult situations,” Trudeau is reported to have said.
2) Dedicate historical Arabic song
We all remembers this video making rounds on the internet, right? Even though it has become clear now that the choir who performed this intended it more for diversity purposes, people online have still be sharing this to show the message of solidarity.
3) The newspaper ad
Who doesn’t love when the national media joins the bandwagon of showing solidarity? Similar display of welcome was printed on the first page of The Toronto Star on December 10, 2015.
4) Refugees coming forward to welcome refugees
It takes things to a whole new level when those who were once refugees come forward to help people whose pain they understand.
5) Show up at a demonstration to make your voice count
